About Lisa Troy

Lisa’s Artistic career was launched with her first commission of the large pastel painting, ‘Giant Gerberas’ in 1998 and within 2 years she was fortunate enough to gain several more commissions and to date Lisa has collectors of her work locally and further afield such as in the United Kingdom and the United States.

March 2002, saw her first Art Exhibition entitled ‘The Grape Inspirations’ with fellow Artist Katie Dunn at the Garrick Gallery. Thanks to the success of this venture, Lisa continued to exhibit her work over the following decade. 2003 ‘The Grape Return’ Exhibition at the Jersey Opera House, in 2004 ‘Four Seasons’, her first solo Art Exhibition and then in 2005 Lisa exhibited her most personal Exhibition entitled ‘The Elements’ and in 2007 she had work exhibited in the National Art Fund charity Exhibition. During 2010 at the Sir John Cheshire Gallery, Lisa’s ‘Routes of Jersey’ Exhibition was kindly sponsored by Jersey Standard Chartered as her Artwork was inspired by the views and feelings that she had experienced when training for the Jersey Standard Marathon.

In 2004, then in 2018 and again in 2021 Lisa’s work was selected for the JJ Fox Art Competition and was Exhibited in Berni Gallery at the Jersey Arts Centre and Guernsey.

In 2019 Lisa had the time to finally finish her next body of work, resulting in her Exhibition entitled ‘Observation’ which Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management kindly sponsored. One of Lisa’s favourite sentences while teaching in her Art classes, is “Observation, Observation, Observation”! Lisa believes Observation is the fundamental basis of all Art whether it is the simple practice of observing the world around you or being able to observe the thoughts in your mind. “My work is based on observed views and creative thoughts inspired by these observations”. In October 2019 her ‘Observation’ Exhibition was held at the Fort Regent Gallery and was her most successful showing, to date.

In June 2021 Lisa was Artist in Residence on the Island of Crete at Elounda Island Villas, resort and Artist retreat owned by the Greek Artist Leda Alexpoulou. The residency entailed directly responding to this unique place and creating an Art Installation for the resort's gardens. Using driftwood she sourced from the Aegean Sea, her new found passion for pyography (the freehand art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks resulting from the application of a heated object) and paint, Lisa had her most immersive Artistic experience to date.

In October 2022 Lisa exhibited Collaborative pop up exhibition, Through Three Women's Eyes, at Greve de L’ecq Barracks; supported by ArtHouse Jersey. This was the debut showing of her new practice of Pyrography alongside her combination painting.

She trained in 2022 to become an Artist Educator for Making Art Partnerships in School in conjunction with ArtHouse Jersey and CYPES. ArtHouse Jersey, Artist Educator for MAPS - Making Art Partnerships in Schools. Collaborating in an Art project with St Martins Primary School.
