About Nicola Lucas
Nicola Lucas originally trained as a textile designer specialising in print for fashion and surface design. This interest in pattern and texture is evident in the monochrome images of winter trees and bold watercolour woodlands produced over the past eight years. Influenced by the Japanese painting technique of Sumi e, she carefully curates white space, textural lines and a limited colour palette, to capture the timeless beauty and complexity of the natural world.
Nicola has staged three solo exhibitions in Jersey CI, and is currently working towards her fourth. She has paintings in private collections in Switzerland, France the UK and Channel Islands, has worked on numerous private commissions and exhibited at international trade fairs in London and Germany.
